GAME: Paint the Scenery

I invite you to be more descriptive than you normally might be, spend a little more time on setting than in the past, and get as specific as you possibly can (remember Five Objects—All Very Specific?).

WHY ON EARTH WOULD WE DO THIS?

You can use this improv exercise to create lush landscapes, barren deserts, and everything in between to develop settings that could be drawn, painted, molded, sculpted, inhabited. It will be glorious. It will inspire stories, and then help keep you motivated to move through the story to completion. And just as it happens onstage, when we are given a location to begin with, characters just start showing up. There they are. And they’re often pretty interesting.

Set a timer for ten minutes.
